Our Club...

The annual invitation tournament was held on 22nd January, and featured a number of new teams this year, including Brize Jets, Oxfordshire's most recent entrants into the South Regional League. The draw consisted of two sections, the winners and runners-up of which would meet in the semi-finals, and the winners of these matches in the final. Whilst the sections were seeded evenly on paper, some unexpected team selections meant that Abbey were in the stronger half of the draw and were unable to progress to the semi-final stage. However, Oxfordshire was represented in each semi-final in the forms of Brize Jets, who were struck by injury and lost out to a strong MK Netters side, and Trinity, who were overcome by Capital Nuns. The final match was fast and furious with a number of turnovers from each side. The MK Netters GS held a significant height advantage in the circle and made it difficult for Nuns to prevent the feed under the post, enabling MK to pull out to a lead, which they held throughout the game and through to the final whistle.
